Murphy's law

We were so excited to get new carpet through the whole upstairs earlier this week! It looks so nice, and I was going to post before/after photos, but I forgot to take befores, so.....................Hmmm, isn't that just like me? But, anyway, that's not the point. Yesterday, I went to go in the bathroom (for about the 30th time, since Alden, Emma and I had gotten food poisoning the night before), and there was water all over the bathroom floor. Apparently Evan had flushed the toilet and it had overflowed, and he didn't come tell me about it...............So there was water all over the floor, it had seeped on to the new carpet, and had traveled through the floor to the ceiling of our basement and caused damage to the drywall down there and dripped on to the new carpet downstairs as well. Agh!!!

Not the end of the world, and it could have been A LOT worse, but since we've gotten these newer, more water efficient toilets, they have never overflowed. So what are the odds of this happening mere days after installing new carpet???
